This track is for the person in the coach's chair, including the person who has never sat in it before. It covers running a session, the structure a session follows, and the mechanics of a series.

## Reading order

1. Read yes, you can coach first if you are hesitating about whether the role is yours to take.
2. Read the GROW model next; it is the structure everything else assumes.
3. Read session mechanics before you agree a series, because the defaults are easier to set at the start than to change later.
4. Read running a first session immediately before the first session.

## How it relates to the tech leads track

The tech leads track describes the role from the inside: what a lead is accountable for, the skills the role leans on, and how to prepare for being coached. Reading it makes the material a lead brings much easier to place.

## A note on scope

This is coaching on leadership practice. It is not counselling, and it is not advice on employment, legal or financial matters. Where a conversation moves into those areas, the right move is to stop and point towards people equipped for them.
